Handling Unit Types (HU Types) in Extended Warehouse Management are used to classify packing materials and Handling units with the same physical properties.
How to Define Handling Unit Types in SAP S/4Hana EWM
You can define HU types in SAP Extended Warehouse Management by using the following configuration steps
IMG Path: SPRO {Transaction Code} > SAP Reference IMG > Integration With Other SAP Components > Extended Warehouse Management > Additional Material Attributes > Attribute Values for Additional Material Master Fields > Define Handling Unit Type
Step 1: Follow the IMG Path and Execute the IMG Activity “Define Handling Unit Type”
Step 2: On the change view “handling unit types” overview screen, click on the new entries option to define new handling units in SAP
Step 3: On new entries of the HU types screen, update the following details to define Handling Unit Types
- HUTyp: Enter the new HU Type key that defines the Handling Unit Type in SAP EWM
- Description: Update the description for Handing Unit Type.
After maintaining the details of Handling Unit Types, click on the save option and save the defined Handling Unit Types in the SAP S/4Hana system.
